Reproducción a escala de uno de los leones de la fuente del Patio de los Leones o
“Jardín Feliz” en la Alhambra. Forma parte del conjunto de 12 leones que junto con
la taza y sus 12 poemas de Ibn Zamrak, conforman la fuente de los Leones, una
de las pocas representaciones figurativas que se pueden ver en el arte Nazarí.

Algunos investigadores piensan que este león formaba parte de lo que
originalmente fue concebido como una Clepsidra (reloj de agua). Donde cada uno
de los doce chorros de agua que manan de sus bocas, expulsaban agua según las
horas del día, con un mecanismo hoy perdido.

Some researchers think that this lion was part of what was originally conceived as a Clepsidra (a water clock). Using a mechanism that has been lost today, the lions expelled water from the twelve jets that flow from their mouths according to the hours of the day.
